Uplifting Green Initiatives: Yogi Adityanath Government Set to Launch 'One Tap-One Tree' Campaign in Uttar Pradesh Starting July 1st

LUCKNOW: Embarking on an extraordinary mission, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is all set to kick off the highly anticipated 'one-tap-one-tree' campaign from July 1. This groundbreaking initiative aims to simultaneously expand the green cover and provide potable tap water in rural areas, paving the way for a sustainable and healthier future for the state.

With the invaluable guidance of the Chief Minister, the campaign is being jointly launched by the Namami Gange Programme and the rural water supply department. As part of the revolutionary 'Har-Ghar-Jal' scheme, each beneficiary will not only receive a tap connection but also a sapling, emphasizing the profound connection between access to clean water and a flourishing environment.

The visionary Yogi government has set an ambitious target of planting 5 lakh saplings within a week of the campaign's launch, symbolizing their unwavering commitment to creating a greener landscape and ensuring the well-being of the people through safe drinking water.

To bring this green vision to life, officials and employees of the Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply departments will diligently plant the saplings outside households receiving tap connections, near overhead tanks, at pump houses, and water treatment plants. This concerted effort will leave no stone unturned in transforming the state into an oasis of sustainability and natural beauty.

Notably, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a frontrunner among states in providing maximum tap connections under the 'Har Ghar Jal' scheme. Every day, thousands of new connections are being extended to rural families, demonstrating the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring access to clean water for all.

Anurag Srivastava, the esteemed principal secretary of the Namami Gange and rural water supply department, chaired a meeting where officials were directed to embark on a massive plantation drive between July 1 and 7, marking a significant step towards a greener future.

The responsibility of carrying out the plantation drives at district, block, and Gram Panchayat levels has been entrusted to Jal Samitis and other organizations. These dedicated entities will actively engage in environmental programs and diligently spread awareness among villagers about the significance of environmental conservation and water preservation.

Their efforts will encompass educating communities about the perils of contaminated water and the necessary preventive measures. Additionally, they will enlighten the public about techniques for rainwater harvesting, ensuring that precious water resources are conserved. The plantation drive will encompass villages, water overhead tanks in blocks, Panchayat campuses, and water treatment plants, leaving no corner untouched in this transformative endeavor.

Jal-Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh highlighted the government's unwavering commitment to not only addressing present challenges but also safeguarding the future. This inspiring campaign bears testament to their dedication to ensuring that future generations have access to clean drinking water and can breathe in a pristine environment, promoting a sustainable and prosperous Uttar Pradesh.

Through the 'one-tap-one-tree' campaign, the Uttar Pradesh government is not only revolutionizing access to clean water but also championing the cause of environmental conservation, ultimately laying the foundation for a greener and healthier future.
